BCI, Brain-Christ Interface ∙
For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. – 1 Corinthians 2:16
1 Corinthians 2:11-16
11 No one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.
12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
16 For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
21st century science and technology is on the cusp of entering the realm of sci-fi. Among the innovations is BCI, brain-computer interface. Essentially, BCI establishes a connection between human neural networks and computer hardware and networks.
The human brain creates electrical impulses. When we think, thoughts are transmitted from our brain into our body as a series of electrical signals. Picking up such signals is nothing new: doctors already monitor the electrical activity in the brain using EEG (electroencephalography) and in the muscles using EMG (electromyography).
Current research is investigating whether those electrical impulses could be decoded and translated into signals that can be “understood” by computers. A person’s thoughts may one day be known, in a fashion similar to how human speech is understood.
A computer is analogous to the human brain and mind. These new technologies will allow brain to brain, or mind to mind interface. The computer will be able to “read” the human mind. The goal is to allow people to control and communicate with technology using only their brains.
Primitive BCI’s are found in cochlear implants, which help people to hear.
Mind-to-mind connectivity is nothing new. The Father has been doing it since the creation of Adam and Eve.
The Father does not require additional information. He knows everything all the time and never learns new things. He frequently asks questions to elicit self-reflection and help us to recognize and admit our poor choices. So it was with Adam and Eve in the garden.
Genesis 3:8-11
8 In the cool of the day, the man and his wife heard the LORD God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the LORD God among the trees.
9 Then the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
11 “Who told you that you were naked?” the LORD God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”
The Father knew the answers to each of these questions. It is impossible to hide from the Father, who sees everything and knows everything. He knew where they were hiding and why they were hiding. He knew they had eaten from the tree, which He commanded them not to eat from. He confronted Adam and Eve without heaping guilt and shame upon them. However, He did administer firm discipline
REFLECT & PRAY
The Father searches our minds and hearts. He sees clearly what we are often unable to see and comprehend.
Father, it is amazing to me that we have the opportunity to know Your thoughts. You have made it possible for us to think Your thoughts after You. Teach me how to interface with Your mind.
INSIGHT
Both the Father and the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, know our innermost thoughts. They are always alert and aware.
Jeremiah 17:9-10
9 “The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?
10 “I, the LORD, search the heart, I search the mind.
John 2:24-25
24 But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men,
25 and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.
But something entirely new has been added. An innovative, mystical, mental interface is made possible through the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit allows us to know the Father’s thoughts. Further, we now have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:9-16
9 No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.
12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things . . .
16 For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
Paul does not explain in detail what is inherently inexplicable. The analogy is a BCI, brain-computer interface. Somehow, we now interface with the mind and the thoughts of the Father and the Son.
Paul argues that the Spirit makes it possible to know the Father’s thoughts. Because we have the Spirit of God, we can know the very thoughts of God. This was never possible before. It is literally, if you will, “mind-blowing.”
For thousands of years, people have had libraries where scrolls and tablets were stored. With the advent of the printing press, libraries became full of books. For centuries, if people wanted to access information, all they had to do was go to the library. In the twentieth century that changed. Books were digitized and could be accessed through PCs, tablets, and smartphones. Seemingly, the cumulative knowledge of all mankind is now readily available at our fingertips.
BCI, brain-computer interface, aims to raise the bar and somehow or another hardwire our brains directly to these knowledge resources.
With regards to the resources and thoughts of the Father, Paul is alluding to something similar. In some way, spiritual people, who are mature in the faith, interface with the thoughts and mind of God. We have access to the mind of Christ. Somehow the Spirit of God has provided a BCI, Brain-Christ Interface, to each child of the King
