Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! – Psalms 150:6
Psalms 150:1-6
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven!
2 Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness!
3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp!
4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes!
5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
In 2019, Billboard Magazine named Every Praise the Gospel Song of the Decade. The song had a 26-week run at number 1 on Gospel radio and was on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart for an incredible 67 weeks. On August 20, 2020, Hezekiah Walker’s rendition of “Every Praise” was certified platinum by the RIAA.
“‘Every Praise’ is the epitome of worship and its proper direction” (Yolanda Adams). This Father-centered song of joy has become a mainstay of exuberant, gleeful worship for children of the King around the world. It incorporates an energetic style of traditional sound. It harks back to the day when hymns were all about God and his elegant excellence and majesty. It is a celebration of Him.
Hezekiah Walker Lyrics
“Every Praise”
Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise every praise is to our God.
Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise every praise is to our God.
God my Savior
God my Healer
God my Deliverer
Yes He is, yes He is, yes He is, yes He is
Yes He is, yes He is, yes He is, yes He is
Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise, every praise, every praise, every praise
Every praise, every praise, every praise, every praise
Every praise, every praise, every praise, every praise
All of my worship, every praise,
Every praise, every praise
When you see me dancing, every praise
Every praise, every praise
When you see me shoutin’, every praise
Every praise, every praise, every praise, every praise
Every praise, every praise, to our god
Is to our God
REFLECT & PRAY
When we praise the Father, we confess our allegiance, devotion, and dependence upon Him.
Father may every praise of my heart and mind be directed to You, my hero, my savior, my deliverer.
INSIGHT
The book of Psalms is the Old Testament hymnbook of praise and worship of the Old Testament. The Psalms provide many examples of how to praise God and why praise is important. There are a total of 150 Psalms. David wrote most of them.
Praise is a wonderful opportunity to express our love and gratitude to the Father for all He is and all He does. When we worship God, we celebrate His Greatness. We honor and adore Him. The words of our hearts and the meditations of our mouths exalt and revere Him.
We express thanksgiving and wonder at His Majesty and His marvelous excellence. Our words of praise are our Love Song to our heavenly Father and best friend.
Hebrews 12:28 Since we are receiving an unshakable Kingdom, let us show gratitude and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.
What happens when we praise God?
Psalms 92:1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High.
The Hebrew word translated as good is tov. Tov is an all-purpose word, much like it is in English. It refers to something which is desirable or has positive qualities. In an abstract sense, it connotes appeal, beauty, pleasure, and well-being. The Hebrew idiom, “it is good . . .” frequently describes a state of happiness, contentment, or safety and security.
The point is that when we praise and worship the Father, something extraordinary happens to us. Praise lifts our spirits, encourages our hearts, and brings us into the Father’s presence. It is awesome and remarkable that the Father would create a practice allowing people to experience such joy and wonder.
He is working out His eternal plan on earth as it is in heaven. All circumstances of life or under his sovereign control. Often the vicissitudes of life present us with challenges and adversity that we must face and overcome. We are to count it all joy. We do this through praise and worship.
James 1:2-4
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
The praises of humankind alone are inadequate to worship and acknowledge the greatness of the Father and all that He is and all that He does. Therefore “all living creatures” (everything that breathes) are called upon to praise Him.
Psalms 150:6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
One day this aspiration will become a reality.
Revelation 5:13 I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.”
